The Australian Chamber Choir presents all its programs, not only in Melbourne and on ACCess, but also in regional centres around Victoria. The international premiere of Agatha’s Cantata, written in Venice c.1732, took place in Terang, a town of about 2,000 people in Victoria’s Western District, on 23 April 2022, breaking some three hundred years of silence. Whether you measure in migli (a Venetian mile was defined as 1000 passi, or steps) or kilometres, there isn’t anywhere on earth much further away from Venice than Terang. Music lovers drove for up to six hours to be in the audience for Vivaldi’s Gloria, Agatha’s Cantata. Performances also took place in Flinders, Geelong and Macedon. Below are comments from the Terang audience. In 2024 further performances take place in Hamilton, Geelong and Macedon. The ACC presents the European premiere in Venice on 16 July 2024.
