Celebrating Bach-seat drivers, relatively speaking

THE name Bach usually refers to the luminary Johann Sebastian and his four composer sons.
But the Australian Chamber Choir’s first 2012 concert, Dynasty, included works by three other Bachs: Sebastian’s older and less-performed relatives, Johann Ludwig, Johann Michael and Johann Christoph.
The 18-piece Melbourne choir was founded five years ago by musical director Douglas Lawrence and they are fantastic musicians.
Rhythm, intonation and ensemble are taken for granted, leaving room for lively emotional and dynamic contrasts and a distinctive group personality.
